Testing & Implementation

Overview

Testing in the system was done to ensure the integrity of the system. Testing to vital for the success of the project, whichis the last stage of the software development testing, has several purpose.

  • To affirm the availability of project.
  • To find and eliminate the errors from previous stage.
  • To validate the software and to eliminate the operationalreliability of system.

Testing is done for each module. After testing all the modules, the modules are integrated and testing of the finalsystem is done with the test data, specially designed to show that the system will operated successfully in all its aspects and conditions. The procedure level testing is made first. By giving improper inputs, the errors occurred are noted and eliminated.

Thus the system testing is a confirmation that all is correct and an opportunity to show the user that the system works. Thefinal step involves validation testing, which determines whether the software function as the user expected. The end-user rather than the system developer conduct this test most software developers as a process called “Alpha and Beta test” to uncover that only the end user seems able to find.

Fire Alarm System Testing

Common Industries follow NFPA 72 as their guidelines for fire alarm system inspection and testing. In NFPA 72 it states that all fire alarm systems shall be 100% functionally tested annually. This means that all initiating devices (smoke detectors, pull stations, heat detectors, and duct smoke detectors shall be 100% functionally tested annually.

In addition smoke detectors shall be 100% sensitivity tested one year after system installation and every other year there after. With the test instrument we use it performs functional and sensitivity testing on the smoke detectors at the same time. This works well for testing and compliance.
